DESCRIPTION: Throughout life, the skin is exposed to the sun and environmental pollutants. Fine lines, sun damage, age spots, unsightly pores, and acne are just a few of the things you can improve by following a skin care program.
Dr. Hanke or one of his staff will discuss the treatment and realistic expectations with you. After an assessment of your skin condition, you and a skin care specialist will select the appropriate skin care treatment program. A homecare regimen may also be appropriate to enhance the effects of the chosen treatment.
Below, in addition to spot treatments and facials, are some of the various services available at the Carmel Skin Care and Research Center. There is no recovery time for these treatments and facials. You may resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
- Glycolic Acid Peels
Glycolic acid is used to help the skin shed its dull outer layers. It significantly slows the aging process by promoting formation of new collagen and restoring bulk and elasticity to the skin. Glycolic acid is also beneficial to those who suffer from acne.
The program starts with a series of 3 peels at 2-week intervals. After the series, the remaining 3 peels may be performed monthly for maintenance and continued improvement of the skin's appearance.
- Microdermabrasion
This skin treatment uses fine crystals to provide a progressive abrasion to buff away rough and damaged skin. It can be used to improve the appearance of fine lines, sun damage, dilated pores, uneven skin texture, pigment irregularities, mild scars, and stretch marks. The skin tone is brightened, and the skin looks and feels cleaner, smoother, and more youthful. For optimum results, the recommended treatment includes a series of 10 treatments spaced one week apart. After the initial package, microdermabrasion can be done monthly for maintenance.
- Anti-Aging Treatment
A combination of alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) peels and microdermabrasion can slow down the aging process. This combination helps to soften fine lines and creates a healthier, brighter complexion. This treatment is recommended once a month.
- Active Acne Treatment
Acne can be improved by alternating beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) peels with microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion followed by a BHA peel allows the BHA to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin. This improves the skin condition while removing excess debris, unroofing comedones, and absorbing excess oil. This treatment is recommended once a month.
